Simple Side Border Scrolling Script
Tip submitted by: Abby

Although we work hard at the art of stationery creation here at Downhome, sometimes a scrolling script can enhance the beauty of the stationery itself or the midi attached with it.   There's two different scripts used widely here at downhome... a simple vertical scroll and a simple horizontal scroll.

Worth noting, however, if you create a stationery you wish to use over and over again, you will need to compile the stationery using OE's wizard or save your stats as if you were snagging them from the newsgroups.

Click here to download the !00simplescroll.htm file in a zipped format.
(You will need an unzip program such as WinZip in order to extract these files.)

Extract directly to your C:/Program Files/Common Files/Microsoft Shared/Stationery folder.  This will allow you to select New Message Using... from OE's menu options, and browse to the proper file in the above directory.

HOW TO USE THIS SCRIPT
Okay... if you've saved the !00sidescroll.htm file into your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery folder, we're ready to move on to "how to use the script".

Once you've saved them, launch to Outlook Express.

Using the Simple Scroll
Make sure you are in Rich Text format and have selected View | Source Edit.  This script won't require us to look at the Source but the top scroll will. You'll notice there are three tabs at the bottom now... Edit | Source | Preview.  They'll come in really handy as you proceed with scripts and I always like to use the Preview tab with most all my stats.

Select Message | New Message Using and browse to the same folder above, then choose the !00simplescroll.htm.   You'll see the word "stationery." and a divider line.  This is only to show you where the text should begin, but DO NOT delete the divider bar.  Below that line is where all the script info is and it will make the script NOT work if you delete it.  Just type your message above that line. (Note that the line will not appear in the final posted version.)

To change the ticker text Click your Source tab, scroll ALMOST to the end of the script...  you'll see a bunch of "~" (without the quotes) followed by TICKER TEXT GOES HERE.  Take out the Ticker Text Goes Here and add whatever you would like your Ticker to say.

To add your image and/or midi, click your Edit tab, simply select Format | Background | Picture and Sound.  Preview or save it to your Drafts folder and view there... then voila!  You're ready to send it!

Credit for these scripts should go to: Edgar V. Poirier  http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/moomoo/  as I believe he is the creator of these scripts.  More information on scripting can be found at Edgar's site listed here.
