Adding
Comment Blocks to Stationery
Tip submitted by:

Now this is what I call
a wonderful attribute of HTML that can be used in so many ways, its
functionality proves itself. Using Outlook Express, you
need to know very little about HTML to incorporate a comment block
directly into your stationery.
To view the comment
block I've incorporated into this stationery, press your Control
key and F2 simultaneously.
On the second line of the source code, you'll see this text:
<!-- This
stationery was created by Abby Brewster for Annexcafe's Downhome
Stationery Group where the art of stationery is a common interest. news://news.annexcafe.com/annexcafe.downhome.stationery
-->
Pretty nifty, huh?
You can place any text
you want into the source of a stationery by selecting View
| Source Edit from Outlook
Express' menu options, then selecting the Source
Tab.
It's very important
however that you open the comment block appropriately with a <!--_
where "_" indicates a space
and close with _-->.
You want the comment
block to be visible from the source code, but not visible in the
body message itself AND if a comment block is not opened and closed
appropriately, it can cause your entire document to be hidden to a
viewer. Open
and close comment blocks carefully.
As well, a comment block
can be included anywhere in your source code, as long as it
begins and ends on it's own line, opened and closed correctly, and
is not included within a HTML tag (i.e.,
<HEAD <!--xxx >).
My favorite usage for
this little HTML trick is compiling stationery. I can include
my email address, my website address or a comment to anyone who
might snag my stationery.
