It's fairly
common knowledge that Downhome is the last remaining haven for "safe
viewing" of stationery. Don't be misled by that statement into
believing that the malcontents that have successfully circulated viruses
through email/post attachments don't occasionally make their way into our
happy home, but rest assured, we stand by our commitment to providing a
"safe and happy posting" forum for all that wish to view and
enjoy stationery without fear of their system locking up or unexpected
scripts running without the viewer's knowledge.
NOTE: Since completely avoiding viruses is impossible, it is strongly
recommended that everyone reading any newsgroup, or even just
using an internet connection, have an antivirus program installed and kept
current. |

members of the Annexcafe community and guests of the server's owner, we
support and comply with the server's guidelines for posting.

Posting or distributing software through this board is illegal and
strongly discouraged. When/if you find something that you would like to
share, please just post the URL of the appropriate page so the creator
gets the credit for his work.

GROUP FOCUS
This group was formed to provide people with a place to create and enjoy 'downhome'
stationery. Our definition of 'downhome' is anything universally accepted
as family Our main focus is to provide stationery that can be sent to or
viewed by children and family members. Also, this is not a forum that is
used extensively for complex scripting or for testing scripts.
However, our focus is to also have fun. There are no scheduled times for
fun. It just happens. And whoever is present just joins in. One of the
most popular is PJ Party. There are other events as well. As you spend
time with us we are sure you will get acquainted with most.

SCRIPTING
We at Downhome use "friendly" scripting, a simple side or top
scroll. At times our members use other scripts for displaying their work.
In most instances they are considerate of other members and therefore
include in the subject line additional information such as ASF or if it's
FS (Full Screen). We prefer to not use FS scripts that open automatically.
Should you like to use FS script, please use those with the "Open
button" option.
We are very flexible; however, if a particular script causes problems to
many members we ask that you check your script for errors. If there are
none, please do not use it again. We would like all to have fun.

A WARNING/REQUEST TO
SCRIPPY USERS AND HEAVIER-SCRIPTING STATIONERS:
Many of our members have limited capacity computers and are unable to view
heavy scripting (particularly Scrippy-created stationery). Please refrain from
such use here in Downhome so that ALL our members can enjoy the posted
stationery. There is one group specifically for Scrippy users, and many
other groups welcome the more complicated scripts. A list is of these
is available in our Links Section.

THEME OF THE MONTH (TOM)
Each month the group has a flurry of activity surrounding a selected topic
by a chosen TOM host/hostess. The TOM begins on the first Friday of each
month and ends on that Sunday.
A new host/hostess is announced on the Sunday the current month's TOM ends
and will post an announcement to the board. This allows all who choose to
participate for the following month an entire month to collect or create
graphics for the theme and spin their magic. It's really quite a parade of
creativity, so we hope you'll join us each month for the fun!
We've recently expanded our TOM endeavor. A TOM host/hostess may select a
"theme" for stationery created from general graphics OR they can
provide 2 to 4 images for all the members wishing to participate to
manipulate for individual stationery.

TIPS, TRICKS, and
TUTORIALS ~ THE THREE T's
You got 'em, we want 'em! Whether you get a helpful tip through email,
find a tidbit to share on a website, or discover a fantastic tutorial,
share with all your friends here at Downhome. What about a great story,
poem or snippet you're just itching to share... gussy that baby up with a
pretty stat and we'd love to see it posted at Downhome!
There are no restrictions when these can be posted, but you are more
likely to hear from members if posted during not so busy times such as TOM
weekend.
If you would like us to add your information here, please send a copy of
your 3 T's to us. We'd love to add your tips and tricks to our Help section of this site.

PJ PARTIES
Periodically we hold PJ Parties, one of the group's favorite activities.
No graphics or graphics knowledge will be required, but might we suggest
you don your comfy clothes, stock up on the snacks and beverages, then get
ready for fast, furious and fabulously funny posting!
Many of the core members of the group regularly receive email from some of
the more elusive lurkers and admirers at Downhome. We certainly love that
you're out there, that you're so supportive of what we do, and
particularly of your thoughtfulness and willingness to be a part of
Downhome.... BUT.... the PJ Parties are an excellent opportunity to come
out from hiding and join the whole group so we can learn more about each
other. So, come out, come out wherever you are.... we can't wait to see
you there!
